Those of you who know me know that my design team and I just had a whirl wind of a spring and it’s largely due to the project we took on in Martha’s Vineyard. In just three short months we furnished and accessorized an entire home on this famous getaway island. And it was fabulous!
The home itself sits on over 140 acres of land over looking the most gorgeous view you could possible imagine. We felt so grateful that mother nature was on our side as we enjoyed our lunch break with a side of fresh air. Don’t get me wrong, having an office in the city is fun and exciting, but we didn’t mind the sound of ocean just feet from our “desk” as opposed to the sound of traffic.
We spent four days on the Vineyard for this install. Since this is the family’s vacation home we were able to install the entire home for them, leaving them with only a big reveal in the end!
Day 1 was all about removing existing furniture, creating a blank canvas and making room for the new (and antique) furniture to be placed.
After all the furniture was cleared out
Yes…Thiara and I high-fived. #thathappened #high-fivekindofmoment
Day 2 was so exciting as we placed all the rugs, furniture and began accessorizing! Well, we assisted as our trusted partners at Designer Services worked hard doing all the heavy lifting.
*Disclosure – DSI is an amazing delivery and installation serviced based out of Woburn, Massachusetts. They are the best of the best with everything always executed without a hitch. Kudos to their involvement on this project!
Delegating furniture placement
Day 3 was for art placement and electrical installation. This client in-particular had some truly priceless pieces of art work. Like the 6 foot headdress that had been artfully framed. Or the absolutely perfect piece of art we hung over the fire place in the sitting area off the kitchen that pulled the whole room together.

Day 4 was when the really, and I mean really exciting stuff took place – accessories!
For this install we brought all of our favorite accessories to play with. I had a hard time letting go of some of these truly amazing pieces we placed. It’s like selling your favorite necklace- somethings you just can’t part with.
Accessorizing a job is so much fun because it’s when you really start to see they design come to life. Just as you might accessorize your outfits, you play with what works best. And just as Coco Chanel said “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory” the same concept can be applied when accessorizing a home. Don’t over do it. #lifelessons
